How We Started
hulunariurara began with a simple observation: most financial advice felt disconnected from real Australian households. We set out to change that.
The Kitchen Table Moment
Like many Australians, our founder Zephyr was sitting at his kitchen table in Wagga Wagga, surrounded by bills and bank statements. Despite having a decent income, money always seemed tight. Traditional financial advice felt either too complex or too generic — nothing addressed the real challenges of managing household budgets in regional Australia.

Research & Development
We spent months interviewing families across NSW, from Sydney suburbs to rural communities. The same themes emerged: people wanted practical strategies, not investment portfolios. They needed help with everyday decisions — which expenses to cut first, how to handle irregular income, ways to save without feeling deprived.
First Workshops
We started small with weekend workshops at the local community center. Just twelve families attended our first session on "Smart Grocery Budget Cuts." By the end of 2021, we were running monthly sessions with waiting lists. People were sharing genuine results — families saving 0-400 monthly without major lifestyle changes.
